Does anybody knows any gelling agent that isnt based on animal sources? Went and bought a pack of Gelatin but on reading found that it is made from animal bone.

Thanks

Depends what you are making. The veg gelatine is also available. Or you can use china grass.

Was trying to make strawberry cheesecake with all veg ingredients.... actually ended with a pretty good looking one :-) but found out that the gelatin used was a animal product.

Well, use gelatine (veg one) or strawberry jelly crystals (veg) or china grass ( but the taste will change a bit ). No other option i can think of, except the baked one but that has eggs ................

Get some Agar Agar. It's a seaweed-based vegetarian source.

agar agar is china grass . . .

other substitutes are guar gum, corn gum, arrowroot, kudzu, groundnut paste . . . . exact choice of depends on what you are making and the consistency and taste alteration permissible . . .
