Prashant Karandikar
Hiya Foodies,

I have a query. I am based in Pune, however, I have to arrange a food tasting event in Mumbai for a friend of mine who is a celeb Chef from NY. The most obvious places that I can arrange with a good demo kitchen seem to be 'Dadar Catering College' OR Food Bazaar, etc outlets.

Would like to hear feedback from you guys. Please do let me know.

regards,

Prashant.

I am sorry, I did not clarify exactly the requirement.

a) A Place where he can cook, for which the Dadar Catering college has a Demo Kitchen & can be rented out.

b) Now, these couple of preparations need to be tasted by a target audience, which is as follows;
i) age 20 to 40
ii) who shop @ Food Bazaar, Hypermarket, Spencers, etc.
iii) Preferably is the primary cook in the household.

Plan is to have some people to taste @ Demo Kitchen & others can taste it @ these outlets.

Therefore, I am wondering as to whom, shall i get in touch with ... some Women's association? or a foodie group? or do you have any other group in mind?

Would like to hear your suggestions. Thank You.

Hi ,
Why don't you talk to Minal Mohadikar of Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce about your requirement.
She will definitely help you.

Hi Girish,

Thank You for your inputs. I visited the Maharashtra Chamber's website & saw that they have a Women Entrepreneurs Wing. I guess, that is why you asked me to speak to them?

Prashant.

Hiya All,

Update is, I have been able to arrange for the Demo Kitchen @ the Dadar catering college, however, yet to get a tasting audience for it. Any ideas, anyone?

Hi Chandrashekhar!

Your reply gives me hope. The target audience is as follows;

i) age 20 to 40
ii) who shop @ Food Bazaar, Hypermarket, Spencers, etc.
iii) Preferably is the primary cook in the household. [typically in majority of Indian households, these would be womenfolk]

This will be in the last week of November. The potential problem which I foresee is people express their intent, but drop out [due to genuine problems too], so how can I estimate a confirmed number of people?

Your thoughts & inputs would be appreciated.

regards,

Prashant.

Nopes, no entry fees, we just want to hear their opinion on the taste, maybe a feedback form would be ideal.

All schools & colleges closed on 27th & so was the Dadar catering college & at HyperCity there would have been a low turn out, so the event has been postponed. The next time around , we shall have the event on a weekend so that more people can attend. Will keep you posted here on developments.

Well, just back from the Dadar event. Met Chef Hari Nayak. Prashant and Chandrashekhar were also there.

It was a great and a unique experience. Chef Hari Nayak uses different food products to replace some ingredients to give a different taste to the products as well as to reduce the oil consumption. Also a lot of different ingredients are added to the basic Indian way of cooking to give it a twist and a new taste.

For food tasting, there was a mix veg and a chicken preparation, which had apple puree as a base for the gravy instead of onions. It gave it a subtle tangy taste and was good. This was followed by a regular Indian lunch and a dessert. Also had a chance to go through his well illustrated cook book.
